All of the food at The Teesdale Hotel is cooked on the premises using fresh, seasonal, good quality locally sourced ingredients, conscientiously prepared and served by friendly staff. We want you to go home feeling well looked after and enjoying a great well cooked meal is an essential part of that.

Our emphasis is on quality local produce, carefully and simply prepared and presented without much fuss. Our local butcher (McFarlane's; just across the road) provides great local meat, our trout is brought to us by local anglers, our fruit and veg is all seasonal and locally sourced (often it comes from local allotments - exchanged for pints!). Local cheeses also feature, especially Teesdale's own delicious Cotherstone Cheese.
We have been awarded the "Local Produce Champion & Quality Assured" award for the third year in succession by Taste Durham - a local Tourist Board initiative.
The menu is the same whether you choose to have a bar meal in our cozy bar, eat on the patio in the summer, or have a table for the evening in our elegant restaurant and dine by candlelight.
We serve great drinks too! Our wine cellar stocks a good selection of well chosen wines from around the world and we always have local Real Ales, well kept, at the right temperature and served with a proper head! We have now been awarded the coveted 'Cask Marque' for the quality of our beer.
Also on offer are; Bitburger Pils, imported from Germany (so it's brewed under the German Purity Law), and Aspalls Cider; if you know your cider you'll know its a great one, made from real english apples and not imported pulp. Plus; Fosters Draught, Jennings Cumberland Cream (smoothflow bitter) and Guinness. There's also a great selection of spirits including our discerning selection of malt whiskies.
As well as being open to non-residents and well patronised by the locals, the restaurant is also available for private functions and bookings, such as Weddings, Christenings, Anniversaries and Birthdays. We also have the facility to cater for small business meetings and conferences. Depending upon the nature of each particular function, we can cater for parties up to fifty people.
